CONSCIOUS SEDATION MAKES TOOTH EXTRACTIONS MORE COMFORTABLE
A simple extraction is just that. Simple. We promise it’s not as scary as it sounds. Leave it to our team to provide you with a more comfortable, low-stress extraction process. You’ll remain awake during the process, but with sedation dentistry, you can feel relaxed. We don’t perform any surgery or dental treatment in our office under general anesthesia, so if you require a surgical tooth extraction or more complex dental surgery, we’ll refer you to a trusted oral surgeon.
Are dental extractions and wisdom teeth removal painful? Many patients are anxious about this, but anaesthetic is used to minimize discomfort. Once the local anesthesia kicks in, which won’t take long, we’ll use a simple and comfortable tool called an elevator to loosen the tooth. After which, it can easily be pulled out. It’s only natural to feel some discomfort and swelling around the dental extraction site, but it should completely heal up in approximately two weeks.
SHOULD I PREPARE MYSELF BEFORE BEING GIVEN DENTAL SEDATION?
DOES NITROUS OXIDE SMELL?
Though it is colourless, it is often described as having a slightly sweet odour.
We know that having a fear of the dentist is quite common, and we promise our feelings aren’t hurt. With drills and weird smells, it can make any patient feel uncomfortable. Sedation is a great way to relieve stress and anxiety without being put to sleep and can help patients feel more comfortable for most dental procedures. Even if you’d like it administered during your general cleaning, we’d be happy to do so. And yes, sedation is even safe for children who are anxious too! But if you have any more questions on the matter, please feel free to call our helpful staff over the phone at 416-865-9494.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth from its socket in the bone. It’s typically necessary when a tooth is damaged beyond repair due to decay, injury, or for orthodontic reasons. In Toronto, our experienced team performs tooth extractions with careful consideration of each patient’s unique dental health needs.
Before a tooth extraction in Toronto, it’s important to discuss your medical history and any medications you’re taking with your dentist. Avoid smoking, eat a light meal a few hours before the procedure, and arrange for someone to drive you home if you’re receiving sedation.
During a tooth extraction at our Toronto clinic, we first numb the area to minimize discomfort. The dentist then gently loosens the tooth and removes it. The procedure is quick, and our team ensures you are informed and comfortable throughout.
After a tooth extraction in Toronto, it’s important to follow specific care instructions to ensure proper healing. This includes biting on a gauze pad to control bleeding, avoiding rinsing or sucking actions, and eating soft foods. Full aftercare guidelines will be provided by our clinic.
